The British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy’s Ethical Framework (2018) defines supervision as "a specialised form of mentoring provided for practitioners responsible for undertaking challenging work with people. Supervision is provided to ensure standards, enhance quality, advance learning, stimulate creativity, and support the sustainability and resilience of the work being undertaken."

This is taught, with adherence to BACP’s ethical framework. 
Generally counsellors undertake this study as part of their professional practitioner development.
This course is written as a 6 month study programme.

This qualification contains 4 units which are delivered usually over a four month period, that is, one class each month for 4 months with the remaining 2 months to finalise supervisee hours (6 month course in total).
The Summer school delivery model is 1 class over 4 weeks and the remaining 5 months to complete all assignment work and accrue supervisee hours (6 month course in total).

This qualification holds the Quality mark with One Awards, a highly recognised awarding body nationally which is based in the North East.

Delivery and assessment could include:  
Assignments (theoretical and reflections of self) 
Supervision skills practice/applied theory work
Large and small group work
Training group supervision sessions
A recording and transcript of 1 supervised session and a log of trainee supervisor practice that reflects 6 supervisee hours; working with two supervisees.
