What is mindfulness
Mindfulness is not the same thing as Meditation. Mindfulness is the quality of awareness that comes from paying attention to yourself, others and the world around you in a certain way (Chaskalson, 2014). Jon Kabat-Zin speaks of this as the awareness that arises from paying attention on purpose, in the present moment and non-judgmentally (Kabat-Zin, 2015).

Mindfulness involves paying attention in the present moment
When you are mindful your attention stays in the present moment, right here, right now rather than running on ‘automatic pilot’.
